New partner assumes at Allende & Cía · July 2024

With two decades of experience advising individuals and companies on tax matters at both national and international levels, lawyer Marcela Silva Parada has joined the firm Allende & Cía. Her arrival this month marks the appointment of the only female partner currently at the firm, bringing the total number of partners to ten.

Throughout her career, she has specialized in cross-border operations, transfer pricing, mergers and acquisitions, asset protection, and representation in tax disputes with authorities at both administrative and judicial levels.

Silva holds a law degree from the Catholic University, a Master’s in International Taxation from the University of Florida, USA, and a Master’s in Tax Management from Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI), among other studies in Director Training and Leadership.

Before joining Allende & Cía., she was a partner at Grupo Vial Abogados. Previously, she was the Director of M&A Tax & Legal at Deloitte, a senior associate at Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos, a legal analyst at PwC, and for over a decade, the head of the International Audit Department at the Internal Revenue Service (SII).

She has also been a delegate for Chile to the OECD and is currently the executive secretary of the Tax Committee of AmCham Chile. Additionally, she was appointed by IFA Chile to head the Chilean chapter for the IFA World Congress Cape Town 2024, “Practical Aspects for the Prevention and Resolution of International Tax Disputes.”

Moreover, she has extensive experience as an academic in various postgraduate programs at Chilean universities and currently teaches the “Tax Treaties” course in the Master of Law program at UAI.
